Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
कामी वा न कदर्यो वा नृशंसः पुरुषः क्वचित् ।
द्रष्टुम् शक्यम् अयोध्यायाम् न अविद्वान् न च नास्तिकः ॥१-६-८॥
kāmī vā na kadaryo vā nṛśaṁsaḥ puruṣaḥ kvacit |
draṣṭum śakyam ayodhyāyām na avidvān na ca nāstikaḥ ॥1-6-8॥
Translation
In Ayodhya, there was not a single person who was lustful or cruel. There was neither an ignorant person nor an atheist.

कामुक या निर्दयी व्यक्ति अयोध्या में कहीं नहीं था। न तो मूर्ख था और न ही नास्तिक था।
English Commentary
This verse presents a remarkable depiction of Ayodhya, where there was an absence of any kind of wrongdoing and negative traits. There was no place for lustfulness and cruelty. Such a state indicates a healthy and happy society. The verse emphasizes that only those who adhere to righteousness and moral discipline can establish such a society. Amid all the differences in Ayodhya, there exists a shared goodness that binds everyone together in love and unity. In such a society, where ignorance and atheism had no place, only individuals with high moral standards resided. Such a society possesses the potential to remain prosperous and joyful.

यह श्लोक अयोध्या की एक अद्भुत चित्रण प्रस्तुत करता है, जहाँ किसी भी प्रकार के दुष्कर्म और नकारात्मक प्रवृत्तियों का अभाव था। कामुकता और निर्दयता का यहाँ कोई स्थान नहीं था। इस प्रकार की अवस्था एक स्वस्थ और सुखद समाज का सूचक है। यह श्लोक इस बात पर जोर देता है कि धर्म और नीति के अनुशासन का पालन करने वाले लोग ही इस प्रकार के समाज की स्थापना कर सकते हैं। अयोध्या की सभी भिन्नताओं के बीच एक सामान्य अच्छाई है, जो सभी को प्रेम और एकता की भावना में बांधती है। ऐसे समाज में, जिसमें मूर्खता और नास्तिकता का कोई स्थान नहीं था, केवल ऊंचे नैतिक मानक के लोग ही निवास करते थे। इस प्रकार का समाज हमेशा सुखी और समृद्ध रहने की संभावना रखता है।
