Translation
"O Lord (Vibho)! How are you protecting another's son while abandoning your own? We view this as improper, like dog-meat in food."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे विभो (प्रभु)! अपने पुत्रों को छोड़कर आप दूसरे के पुत्र को कैसे बचा रहे हैं? हम इसे उसी प्रकार अकार्य (अनुचित) समझते हैं, जैसे भोजन में कुत्ते का मांस।"
English Commentary
The sons presented an extremely insulting argument to invalidate their father's command. They asked how their father could save another's son (Śunaḥśepa) while abandoning his own, calling this action akāryam (improper). They compared it to śva māṃsam iva bhojane (dog-meat in food)—which was considered utterly despicable and polluting. This statement was not just disobedience but a direct attack on Viśvāmitra's wisdom, compassion, and righteous judgment. By equating their father's sacrifice to a vile act, they pushed his anger to its peak. This arrogant logic reflects their attachment to their own lives and their failure to comprehend Viśvāmitra's higher dharma.
