Translation
"The time has now arrived for that auspicious purpose, for the sake of which fathers, desiring welfare (for themselves), beget sons for the benefit of the next world."

"जिस शुभ उद्देश्य के लिए कल्याण चाहने वाले पिता परलोक में हित के लिए पुत्रों को उत्पन्न करते हैं, वह समय अब आ गया है।"
English Commentary
Viśvāmitra addressed his sons with a very high religious rationale. He stated that the primary purpose of begetting sons is not just to continue the lineage in this world but also for the para loka hita arthāya (benefit of the next world). In the Indian tradition, sons are considered duty-bound to ensure their parents' spiritual welfare in the next world through religious acts (like yajñas or śrāddhas). Viśvāmitra argued that 'the time has now arrived' for his sons to fulfill this supreme duty—to earn great merit by protecting a distressed orphan (Śunaḥśepa) and facilitating the King's sacrifice. This statement was an attempt to motivate his sons to transcend self-interest and follow the path of dharma.
