अथ तस्य च शब्देन गीतेन अप्रतिमेन च ।
दर्शनेन च रंभाया मुनिः संदेहम् आगतः ॥१-६४-१०॥
atha tasya ca śabdena gītena apratimena ca |
darśanena ca raṃbhāyā muniḥ saṃdeham āgataḥ ॥1-64-10॥
Translation
However, due to that sound, the incomparable song, and the sight of Rambha, the Sage fell into suspicion.

किंतु, कोयल के उस शब्द, उस अनुपम संगीत और रम्भा के दर्शन से मुनि को संदेह हो गया (कि यह स्वाभाविक नहीं है)।
English Commentary
Vishvamitra's wisdom (viveka) asserts itself. The convergence of stimuli—the cuckoo's call, the music, and Rambha's sudden appearance—triggers suspicion (sandeham) rather than prolonged desire. He recognizes the artificiality of the setup. A true ascetic is always alert; he realizes that this perfect orchestration of sensory delights is likely a test or a trap, prompting him to look deeper than the surface level.

यही वह क्षण है जो विश्वामित्र को एक सामान्य व्यक्ति से अलग करता है। क्षणिक आनंद के बाद, उनका विवेक जागृत हो गया। उन्हें लगा कि असमय वसंत का प्रभाव, कोयल की इतनी मादक ध्वनि और अप्सरा का अचानक प्रकट होना—यह सब संयोग नहीं हो सकता। 'संदेहम् आगतः'—उन्हें यह किसी षड्यंत्र का आभास होने लगा। वे समझ गए कि यह प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य नहीं, बल्कि एक मायावी जाल है।
