Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
कोकिलस्य तु शुश्राव वल्गु व्याहरतः स्वनम् ।
संप्रहृष्टेन मनसा स एनाम् अन्वैक्षत ॥१-६४-९॥
kokilasya tu śuśrāva valgu vyāharataḥ svanam |
saṃprahṛṣṭena manasā sa enām anvaikṣata ॥1-64-9॥
Translation
He heard the melodious sound of the cuckoo uttering sweet notes. With a delighted mind, he looked at her (Rambha).
हिंदी अनुवाद
(उसी समय) विश्वामित्र ने कोयल की मधुर कूक सुनी। (उस मधुर ध्वनि से) प्रसन्न मन से उन्होंने इस (रंभा) की ओर देखा।
English Commentary
The sensory trap springs into action. The auditory stimulus (the cuckoo's call) serves as the hook. Vishvamitra's reaction—a 'delighted mind' (samprahṛṣṭena manasā)—indicates a momentary lapse in detachment. The beauty of nature and sound creates a pleasurable opening, causing him to gaze upon Rambha. For a split second, the ascetic is engaged with the external world rather than the internal Brahman.

इंद्र की योजना का प्रारंभिक प्रभाव सफल रहा। कोयल (इंद्र) की मधुर ध्वनि ने ऋषि के कानों को सुख दिया, जिससे उनका मन 'संप्रहृष्ट' (अत्यंत प्रसन्न) हो गया। मन के प्रसन्न और कोमल होते ही उनका ध्यान रंभा की ओर गया। यह दिखाता है कि इन्द्रियाँ कैसे मन को बाहरी विषयों की ओर खींच लेती हैं, यहाँ तक कि एक महामुनि के मन को भी क्षण भर के लिए विचलित कर सकती हैं।
