Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सहस्राक्षस्य तत् कर्म विज्ञाय मुनिपुंगवः ।
रंभाम् क्रोध समाविष्टः शशाप कुशिक आत्मजः ॥१-६४-११॥
sahasrākṣasya tat karma vijñāya munipuṃgavaḥ |
raṃbhām krodha samāviṣṭaḥ śaśāpa kuśika ātmajaḥ ॥1-64-11॥
Translation
Realizing that this was the deed of the Thousand-eyed Indra, the Bull among Munis (Vishvamitra), filled with anger, cursed Rambha.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यह सहस्रनेत्रधारी इंद्र का काम है, ऐसा जानकर मुनिश्रेष्ठ कुशिकनन्दन (विश्वामित्र) क्रोध से भर गए और उन्होंने रंभा को शाप दे दिया।
English Commentary
This is the pivotal moment of failure in victory. Vishvamitra successfully identifies the plot (vijñāya) and resists the lust (Kama), but he succumbs to the other enemy: anger (Krodha). Knowing it was Indra's game, he lashes out at the proxy, Rambha. The epithet 'Bull among Munis' highlights his power, but the act of cursing consumes the merit of his penance. It illustrates that overcoming lust is only half the battle; conquering the ego's reaction (anger) is often harder.

विश्वामित्र ने अपने योगबल से जान लिया कि इसके पीछे इंद्र है। यहाँ एक विडंबना है: उन्होंने 'काम' (वासना) को तो जीत लिया (रंभा के मोह में नहीं फँसे), लेकिन 'क्रोध' से हार गए। 'क्रोध समाविष्टः' (क्रोध से आविष्ट होकर) उन्होंने शाप दे दिया। तपस्या का उद्देश्य मन की समता है, लेकिन क्रोध ने उनकी संचित तपस्या को फिर से क्षीण कर दिया। उन्होंने इंद्र को दंड देने के बजाय माध्यम (रंभा) को दंडित किया।
