तावत् यावत् हि मे प्राप्तम् ब्राह्मण्यम् तपसा आर्जितम् ।
अनुच्छ्वसन् अभुंजाः तिष्ठेयम् शाश्वती समाः ॥१-६४-१९॥
tāvat yāvat hi me prāptam brāhmaṇyam tapasā ārjitam |
anucchvasan abhuṃjāḥ tiṣṭheyam śāśvatī samāḥ ॥1-64-19॥
Translation
"Until I attain Brahminhood earned through my penance, I shall remain standing for eternal years, without breathing and without eating."

"जब तक मैं अपनी तपस्या से अर्जित 'ब्राह्मणत्व' प्राप्त नहीं कर लेता, तब तक मैं बिना श्वास लिए और बिना भोजन किए अनंत वर्षों तक खड़ा रहूँगा।"
English Commentary
This verse defines the conditionality of his vow. The goal is singular: Brahmanyam (the status of a Brahmana/Brahmarishi). He refuses to compromise. The terms anucchvasan (breathless) and abhunjah (foodless) coupled with tistheyam (I shall stand) paint a picture of static, immovable determination. He is willing to wait "eternal years," indicating that he has transcended impatience. He will force the universe to acknowledge his status through sheer merit.

यहाँ विश्वामित्र का अंतिम लक्ष्य स्पष्ट होता है—'ब्राह्मण्यम्' (ब्राह्मणत्व/ब्रह्मर्षि पद)। वे इसे किसी वरदान के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि 'तपसा आर्जितम्' (तप से कमाया हुआ) चाहते हैं। 'शाश्वती समाः' (अनंत काल तक) यह दर्शाता है कि अब समय की कोई सीमा नहीं है; जब तक लक्ष्य नहीं मिलता, तप जारी रहेगा। भोजन और श्वास का त्याग करके 'खड़े रहना' उनकी अटल निष्ठा का प्रतीक है।
