English Commentary
Rambha pleads for exemption from this perilous duty. Her request for prasādam (grace/favor) is a direct appeal to Indra's benevolence to spare her from the sage's curse. The repetition of words related to fear (bhayam, bhītayā) emphasizes her trembling state. It reveals the tension in the celestial hierarchy—while Indra is the protector of gods, here he is the source of danger for one of his own subjects.
