ताम् उवाच सहस्राक्षो वेपमानाम् कृतांजलिम् ।
मा भैषी रंभे भद्रम् ते कुरुष्व मम शासनम् ॥१-६४-५॥
tām uvāca sahasrākṣo vepamānām kṛtāṃjalim |
mā bhaiṣī raṃbhe bhadram te kuruṣva mama śāsanam ॥1-64-5॥
Translation
...the thousand-eyed Indra spoke to her, who was trembling with folded hands: "Do not fear, O Rambha! May good betide you. Execute my command."

...सहस्रनेत्रधारी इंद्र ने कांपती हुई और हाथ जोड़े खड़ी रंभा से कहा—"हे रंभे! डरो मत, तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। तुम मेरी आज्ञा का पालन करो।"
English Commentary
Indra dismisses Rambha's valid concerns with a command. While he offers a blessing ("May good betide you"), it rings hollow as he is knowingly sending her into harm's way. His instruction is peremptory: mama śāsanam (my rule/order). This illustrates the nature of political power, even in the celestial realm—individual welfare is sacrificed for the preservation of the king's status. Indra prioritizes stopping Vishvamitra over the safety of the nymph.

इंद्र रंभा के भय को खारिज कर देते हैं। वे उसे 'मा भैषी' (डरो मत) कहते हैं और 'भद्रम् ते' (तुम्हारा कल्याण हो) का आशीर्वाद देते हैं, जो विडंबनापूर्ण है क्योंकि अंततः उसका अहित ही होता है। इंद्र यहाँ एक कठोर शासक की भूमिका में हैं जो अपने सिंहासन की सुरक्षा के लिए किसी भी हद तक जा सकते हैं। 'कुरुष्व मम शासनम्' (मेरा आदेश मानो) यह स्पष्ट करता है कि रंभा के पास अब कोई विकल्प नहीं है।
