बहुभिः कारणैः देव विश्वामित्रो महामुनिः ।
लोभितः क्रोधितः चैव तपसा च अभिवर्धते ॥ ॥१-६५-११॥
Bahubhiḥ kāraṇaiḥ deva viśvāmitro mahāmuniḥ |
Lobhitaḥ krodhitaḥ caiva tapasā ca abhivardhate ॥1-65-11॥
Translation
(The gods said:) "O Lord! The great sage Vishvamitra has been tempted and provoked to anger by many means, yet he (and his penance) continues to grow."

(देवताओं ने कहा:) "हे देव! महामुनि विश्वामित्र को बहुत से कारणों से ललचाया गया और क्रोधित किया गया, फिर भी उनका तप बढ़ता ही जा रहा है।"
English Commentary
The gods present their case to Brahma, admitting that their usual tactics of distraction have failed. They tried to evoke Lobha (desire/lust) and Krodha (anger) through celestial nymphs and provocations. However, instead of destroying him, these obstacles served as fuel for his determination ("Abhivardhate" - he increases). This verse acknowledges the resilience of the human spirit; Vishvamitra transformed his failures into stepping stones for higher ascension, making his current penance unbreakable.

देवता ब्रह्मा जी के सामने अपनी असफलता स्वीकार कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने मेनका और रम्भा को भेजकर लोभ (काम) जगाने की कोशिश की, और रम्भा को श्राप दिलवाकर क्रोध उत्पन्न किया। परन्तु, हर गिरावट के बाद विश्वामित्र और अधिक कठोर तपस्या के साथ उठे। "अभिवर्धते" शब्द बताता है कि विघ्न-बाधाओं ने उनके संकल्प को तोड़ा नहीं, बल्कि और मजबूत किया। यह आध्यात्मिक पथ का सत्य है: परीक्षाएं साधक को निखारती हैं। देवताओं ने मान लिया कि अब विश्वामित्र अजेय हैं।
