भास्करो निष्प्रभः चैव महर्षेः तस्य तेजसा ।
बुद्धिम् न कुरुते यावत् नाशे देव महामुनिः ॥ ॥१-६५-१६॥
Bhāskaro niṣprabhaḥ caiva maharṣeḥ tasya tejasā |
Buddhim na kurute yāvat nāśe deva mahāmuniḥ ॥1-65-16॥
Translation
"Even the Sun has lost its luster due to the brilliance of that great sage. O Lord! Before the great sage sets his mind on destruction, (please grant him his desire)."

"उस महर्षि के तेज से सूर्य भी प्रभावहीन (फीका) हो गया है। हे देव! जब तक वह महामुनि हमारा विनाश करने का विचार न करें (उससे पहले आप उन्हें वर दें)।"
English Commentary
The eclipse of the Sun by Vishvamitra's aura is the ultimate poetic assertion of his power. The Sun, usually the dispeller of darkness, is rendered "Nishprabha" (lusterless). The gods urge Brahma to act fast. The phrase "Buddhim na kurute yāvat nase" implies a precarious timeline: Vishvamitra is currently holding the energy in suspension. If he shifts his mental focus ("Buddhi") from containment to destruction, it will be too late. They beg Brahma to intervene before the sage decides to unleash the energy he has gathered.
हिंदी टीका
सूर्य (भास्कर) को तेज का स्रोत माना जाता है, लेकिन विश्वामित्र का ब्रह्मतेज अब सूर्य से भी अधिक है। यह उपमा विश्वामित्र की उपलब्धि की पराकाष्ठा है। देवता ब्रह्मा जी से आग्रह कर रहे हैं कि वे "प्रोएक्टिव" (सक्रिय) हों। यदि विश्वामित्र ने अपनी समाधि तोड़ी और विनाश का संकल्प ("बुद्धिम्") कर लिया, तो फिर उन्हें रोकना असंभव होगा। अभी वे मौन हैं, यही वरदान देने का सही समय है। यह "इमरजेंसी" की स्थिति है।
