जनकः प्रांजलिः वाक्यम् उवाच कुशिकाअत्मजम् ।
धन्यो अस्मि अनुगृहीतो अस्मि यस्य मे मुनिपुंगव ॥ ॥१-६५-३१॥
Janakaḥ prāñjaliḥ vākyam uvāca kuśikātmajam । Dhanyo asmi anugṛhīto asmi yasya me munipuṅgava ॥ ॥1-65-31॥
Translation
Then King Janaka, with folded palms, spoke to the son of Kushika (Vishvamitra): "O Best of Munis! I am blessed; I am favored..."
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब राजा जनक ने हाथ जोड़कर कौशिक-नंदन (विश्वामित्र) से कहा— "हे मुनिपुंगव (मुनियों में श्रेष्ठ)! मैं धन्य हूँ, मैं अनुग्रहित हूँ..."
English Commentary
King Janaka, despite being a realized soul (Videha) and a sovereign ruler, addresses Vishvamitra with folded hands ("pranjali"). This displays the Vedic etiquette where spiritual authority supersedes temporal power. He declares himself "blessed" ("dhanya") and "favored," acknowledging that having his sacrificial ground become the venue for reciting Vishvamitra's legendary history purifies his entire lineage. It highlights the value placed on Satsang (association with the truth/wise) in ancient culture.

राजा जनक 'विदेह' (देहभान से मुक्त) ज्ञानी हैं, फिर भी वे विश्वामित्र के प्रति पूरी विनम्रता दिखाते हैं। "प्रांजलिः" (हाथ जोड़कर) खड़ा होना उनकी शिष्टता दर्शाता है। वे स्वयं को "धन्य" मानते हैं क्योंकि विश्वामित्र जैसे महान तपस्वी का अतीत उनके यज्ञ मंडप में सुनाया गया। जनक का यह कथन कि "मैं अनुग्रहित हूँ" दर्शाता है कि सत्संग और ऋषियों का सानिध्य राजाओं के लिए भी दुर्लभ सौभाग्य माना जाता था।
