ततो विमनसः सर्वे देवा वै मुनिपुंगव ।
प्रसादयन्ति देवेशम् तेषाम् प्रीतो अभवत् भवः ॥ ॥१-६६-११॥
Tato vimanasaḥ sarve devā vai munipuṃgava |
Prasādayanti deveśam teṣām prīto abhavat bhavaḥ ॥1-66-11॥
Translation
Then, O best of sages, all the gods became dejected and propitiated the Lord of Gods. Bhava (Shiva) became pleased with them.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे मुनिपुंगव (मुनियों में श्रेष्ठ विश्वामित्र)! तब सभी देवता उदास (भयभीत) होकर देवेश्वर शिव की स्तुति (प्रसन्न) करने लगे। (उनकी स्तुति से) भगवान भव (शिव) उन पर प्रसन्न हो गए।
English Commentary
Realizing the catastrophic danger, the gods lost their composure (vimanasah) and immediately sought to appease (prasadayanti) the Lord of Lords. Addressing Vishvamitra as Munipungava (bull among sages/eminent sage), Janaka narrates that Shiva (Bhava) was successfully placated. This verse illustrates the dual nature of Shiva—fierce when slighted, yet benevolent when approached with humility. The tension regarding the bow's usage is resolved here; it was withdrawn from battle because grace prevailed.

शिव के क्रोध को देखकर देवता 'विमनसः' (उदास या व्याकुल) हो गए। वे जानते थे कि शिव का क्रोध प्रलय ला सकता है। इसलिए उन्होंने सामूहिक रूप से शिव की स्तुति की। शिव का एक नाम 'आशुतोष' है, अर्थात शीघ्र प्रसन्न होने वाले। यहाँ उन्हें 'भव' कहा गया है। देवताओं की प्रार्थना से शिव का क्रोध शांत हो गया। यह श्लोक संकट के समाधान और शिव की करुणा को दर्शाता है। कहानी का यह मोड़ बताता है कि धनुष का प्रयोग संहार के लिए क्यों नहीं हुआ—क्योंकि शिव प्रसन्न हो गए थे।
