Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रीति युक्तः तु सर्वेषाम् ददौ तेषाम् महात्मनाम् ।
तत् एतत् देवदेवस्य धनू रत्नम् महात्मनः ॥ ॥१-६६-१२॥
Prīti yuktaḥ tu sarveṣām dadau teṣām mahātmanām |
Tat etat devadevasya dhanū ratnam mahātmanaḥ ॥1-66-12॥
Translation
Filled with affection, he gave that bow to those high-souled gods. This is that very jewel among bows belonging to the high-souled God of Gods.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पर्सन्न होकर, उन महात्मा (शिव) ने वह धनुष उन सभी महात्मा देवताओं को दे दिया। यह वही देवों के देव (महादेव) का 'धनु-रत्न' (धनुषों में रत्न) है।
English Commentary
Upon being pacified, Shiva handed over the weapon to the collective custody of the gods. Janaka reverently refers to the weapon as Dhanu-ratnam—a gem among bows. This metaphor elevates the object from a tool of violence to a precious treasure. It reaffirms that the bow Rama is about to see is the authentic artifact of the Devadeva (God of Gods), carrying with it the residual energy of that cosmic encounter.

प्रसन्न होकर शिवजी ने वह धनुष देवताओं को सौंप दिया, ताकि भविष्य में ऐसा विवाद न हो या वे इसकी रक्षा कर सकें। जनक इस धनुष को 'धनू रत्नम्' (धनुषों में रत्न) कहते हैं। जैसे रत्नों में कोई रत्न श्रेष्ठ होता है, वैसे ही यह शस्त्रों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ है। 'देवदेवस्य' (देवों के देव) विशेषण शिव की सर्वोच्चता को दर्शाता है। यह श्लोक धनुष की यात्रा का अगला पड़ाव बताता है—शिव के हाथों से निकलकर यह देवताओं के सामूहिक अधिकार में आ गया।
