Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अवीर्या वीर्य संदिग्धा स अमात्याः पाप कारिणः ।
तत् एतत् मुनिशार्दूल धनुः परम भास्वरम् ॥ ॥१-६६-२५॥
Avīryā vīrya sandigdhā sa amātyāḥ pāpa kāriṇaḥ |
Tat etat muniśārdūla dhanuḥ parama bhāsvaram ॥1-66-25॥
Translation
Those evil-doers, devoid of valor, doubting my valor, along with their ministers (were defeated). O Tiger among sages, this is that supremely radiant bow.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे (राजा) वीर्यहीन थे, (मेरे) वीर्य पर संदेह करने वाले, मंत्रियों सहित पाप करने वाले थे (इसलिए हार गए)। हे मुनिशार्दूल (मुनियों में सिंह)! वही यह परम तेजस्वी धनुष है।
English Commentary
Janaka summarizes the character of his defeated foes: lacking true valor (avirya), sinful (papa karinah), and accompanied by corrupt counsel. Having established the bow's terrifying reputation—it challenged gods and defeated armies—Janaka presents it to Vishvamitra and Rama. Addressing the sage as Munishardula (Tiger among sages), he points to the weapon: "This is that supremely radiant bow" (dhanuh parama bhasvaram). The narrative loop is closed. The backstory has heightened the stakes, making the bow not just a heavy object, but a symbol of unconquerable divine power waiting for its true master.

जनक अपनी बात समाप्त करते हुए उन राजाओं को 'पाप कारिणः' (पापी) और 'अवीर्या' (बलहीन) कहते हैं। वे अपने मंत्रियों के साथ ('स अमात्याः') भाग गए। जनक अब वर्तमान में लौटते हैं और विश्वामित्र की ओर इशारा करते हुए कहते हैं—"तत एतत् धनुः" (यही वह धनुष है)। वे इसे 'परम भास्वरम्' (अत्यंत चमकीला/तेजस्वी) बताते हैं। इतना इतिहास बताने के बाद, अब धनुष राम के सामने प्रत्यक्ष है। जनक के कथन में अब एक चुनौती और निमंत्रण दोनों है—जो काम दुनिया के सारे राजा नहीं कर सके, क्या यह युवा राजकुमार कर पाएगा?
