भगवन् स्वागतम् ते अस्तु किम् करोमि तव अनघ ।
भवान् आज्ञापयतु माम् आज्ञाप्यो भवता हि अहम् ॥ ॥१-६६-३॥
Bhagavan svāgatam te astu kim karomi tava anagha |
Bhavān ājñāpayatu mām ājñāpyo bhavatā hi aham ॥1-66-3॥
Translation
O Lord, welcome to you. O Sinless One, what may I do for you? Please command me, for I am indeed worthy of being commanded by you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे भगवन! आपका स्वागत है। हे निष्पाप मुनिवर! मैं आपके लिए क्या करूँ? आप मुझे आज्ञा दें, क्योंकि मैं आपकी आज्ञा के अधीन (सेवक) हूँ।
English Commentary
King Janaka's humility is profound here. He addresses Vishvamitra as Anagha (sinless one) and explicitly states his readiness to serve. The phrase ajnapyo bhavata hi aham ("I am indeed to be commanded by you") signifies total surrender of the royal ego before spiritual wisdom. This is characteristic of the "Rajarshi" ideal—a king who rules with the detachment and wisdom of a sage. Janaka does not assert his authority as the host king but positions himself as an instrument to fulfill the sage's divine purpose. It creates an atmosphere of readiness for the momentous events about to unfold.

राजा जनक की विनम्रता यहाँ पराकाष्ठा पर है। विदेहराज होते हुए भी वे विश्वामित्र से कहते हैं, "मैं आपकी आज्ञा के अधीन हूँ।" 'अनघ' शब्द का प्रयोग विश्वामित्र के लिए किया गया है, जिसका अर्थ है 'पापरहित' या 'पवित्र'। जनक यह जानना चाहते हैं कि विश्वामित्र का आगमन किस उद्देश्य से हुआ है, ताकि वे उनकी सेवा कर सकें। यह संवाद गुरु-शिष्य या ऋषि-राजा के बीच के आदर्श संबंधों को रेखांकित करता है। जनक यह नहीं पूछते कि "आप क्यों आए हैं?", बल्कि पूछते हैं "मैं क्या सेवा कर सकता हूँ?", जो उनकी सेवा-भावना और समर्पण को दर्शाता है।
