एतत् दर्शय भद्रम् ते कृत कामौ नृप आत्मजौ ।
दर्शनात् अस्य धनुषो यथा इष्टम् प्रतियास्यतः ॥ ॥१-६६-६॥
Etat darśaya bhadram te kṛta kāmau nṛpa ātmajau |
Darśanāt asya dhanuṣo yathā iṣṭam pratiyāsyataḥ ॥1-66-6॥
Translation
May prosperity be yours! Please show this to them. Having their desire fulfilled by the sight of this bow, the princes will return as they please.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आपका कल्याण हो! आप इन्हें वह धनुष दिखाइये। उस धनुष के दर्शन से इनकी इच्छा पूर्ण हो जाएगी और तब ये राजकुमार अपनी इच्छानुसार वापस लौट जाएंगे।
English Commentary
Vishvamitra frames the request simply as a sightseeing opportunity. He blesses Janaka (bhadram te) and suggests that once the princes' curiosity is satisfied by viewing the bow, they will depart. This is an understated request given the prophecy surrounding the bow (that whoever strings it marries Sita). Vishvamitra, knowing the future, is subtly orchestrating the event without explicitly demanding a trial of strength yet. He allows the natural course of destiny to unfold by merely asking for the darshan (viewing) of the weapon.

विश्वामित्र अपनी बात को आशीर्वाद 'भद्रम् ते' (आपका कल्याण हो) के साथ समाप्त करते हैं। वे जनक को आश्वस्त करते हैं कि राजकुमारों का उद्देश्य केवल धनुष के 'दर्शन' करना है। 'यथा इष्टम् प्रतियास्यतः' (जैसे आए हैं वैसे लौट जाएंगे) कहकर विश्वामित्र अभी 'स्वयंवर' या 'विवाह' की बात नहीं छेड़ते। यह उनकी कूटनीति और वाकपटुता का प्रमाण है। वे चाहते हैं कि पहले राम धनुष देखें, और जो होना है वह विधि के विधान और राम के पराक्रम से स्वतः घटित हो। वे जनक पर किसी भी प्रकार का दबाव नहीं डाल रहे हैं।
