Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
जनकस्य वचः श्रुत्वा विश्वामित्रो महामुनिः ।
धनुर् दर्शय रामाय इति ह उवाच पार्थिवम् ॥ ॥१-६७-१॥
Janakasya vacaḥ śrutvā viśvāmitro mahāmuniḥ |
Dhanur darśaya rāmāya iti ha uvāca pārthivam ॥1-67-1॥
Translation
Hearing the words of Janaka, the great sage Vishvamitra spoke to the King: "Show the bow to Rama."
हिंदी अनुवाद
जनक के वचन सुनकर महामुनि विश्वामित्र ने राजा (पार्थिव) से कहा—"राम को धनुष दिखाइये।"
English Commentary
Vishvamitra's response is terse and confident. Upon hearing the conditions, he does not hesitate or negotiate. He simply commands: Dhanur darshaya Ramaya ("Show the bow to Rama"). This brevity speaks volumes about the sage's foresight. He knows Rama's potential and destiny. By acting as the intermediary, he formally accepts the challenge on behalf of his student. The usage of ha uvaca (so he spoke) indicates a definitive instruction that sets the wheels of destiny in motion.

विश्वामित्र का उत्तर संक्षिप्त और आत्मविश्वास से भरा है। वे कोई लंबी-चौड़ी बात नहीं करते, न ही राम की शक्ति का बखान करते हैं। वे केवल इतना कहते हैं—"धनुष दिखाइये।" यह 'महामुनि' का आत्मविश्वास है। वे जानते हैं कि राम कौन हैं और उनसे क्या अपेक्षित है। यहाँ 'पार्थिव' (पृथ्वी के स्वामी) शब्द जनक के लिए प्रयोग किया गया है। गुरु की आज्ञा मिल गई है, अब राजा और राजकुमार को केवल उसका पालन करना है। यह श्लोक गुरु की भूमिका को रेखांकित करता है—वे मार्ग दिखाते हैं और अवसर प्रदान करते हैं।
