ततः स राजा जनकः सचिवान् व्यादिदेश ह ।
धनुर् आनीयताम् दिव्यम् गन्ध माल्य अनुलेपितम् ॥ ॥१-६७-२॥
Tataḥ sa rāja janakaḥ sacivān vyādideśa ha |
Dhanur ānīyatām divyam gandha mālya anulepitam ॥1-67-2॥
Translation
Then King Janaka ordered his ministers: "Let the divine bow, anointed with scents and garlands, be brought here."
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब राजा जनक ने अपने मंत्रियों को आदेश दिया—"गंध (चंदन) और मालाओं से विभूषित उस दिव्य धनुष को ले आओ।"
English Commentary
Janaka issues the executive order to his ministers (sacivan). The description of the bow is significant: it is gandha malya anulepitam (smeared with sandalwood paste and adorned with garlands). This confirms that the Shiva Dhanush was an object of daily worship, a ritual artifact rather than a mere tool of war. It was treated with the sanctity accorded to a deity. This instruction transforms the assembly hall from a court into a sacred arena where a divine test is about to take place.

राजा जनक अपने मंत्रियों (सचिवों) को आज्ञा देते हैं। धनुष का वर्णन 'दिव्यम्' और 'गन्ध माल्य अनुलेपितम्' के रूप में किया गया है। यह बताता है कि वह धनुष शस्त्रागार में पड़ा हुआ कोई सामान्य हथियार नहीं था, बल्कि एक पूजनीय देवता की तरह रखा गया था। उस पर चंदन का लेप और फूलों की मालाएँ थीं, जो यह सिद्ध करती हैं कि विदेह राज्य में उस धनुष की नित्य पूजा होती थी। जनक की आज्ञा में अब विलंब नहीं है; वे भी परिणाम देखने को उत्सुक हैं।
