Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
बाढम् इति एव तम् राजा मुनिः च समभाषत ।
लीलया स धनुर् मध्य जग्राह वचनात् मुनेः ॥ ॥१-६७-१५॥
Bāḍham iti eva tam rājā muniḥ ca samabhāṣata । Līlayā sa dhanur madhye jagrāha vacanāt muneḥ ॥ ॥1-67-15॥
Translation
"Be it so," said the King and the Sage in agreement. At the Sage's word, Rama playfully grabbed the bow at its middle.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा जनक और मुनि विश्वामित्र ने "बहुत अच्छा" (तथास्तु) कहकर अनुमति दी। मुनि की आज्ञा से श्रीराम ने खेल-खेल में (लीलापूर्वक) उस धनुष को बीच से पकड़ लिया।
English Commentary
The keyword in this verse is lilaya (playfully or effortlessly). It draws a sharp contrast between the struggling kings of the past and Rama. What was an immovable object for thousands was handled by Rama with the ease of a child picking up a toy. Grasping the bow in the middle indicates perfect balance and mastery. The immediate concurrence of the King and the Sage ("Be it so") acts as the final green light. This effortless lifting of the heavy bow is the first clear indication to the assembly that Rama is no ordinary prince, but a being of supreme power.

इस श्लोक का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण शब्द 'लीलया' (खेल-खेल में) है। जिस धनुष को उठाने में बड़े-बड़े राजा और देवता पसीना बहा चुके थे, उसे श्रीराम ने ऐसे उठाया जैसे कोई खिलौना हो। यह उनके और अन्य राजाओं के बीच की शक्ति के विशाल अंतर को दर्शाता है। उन्होंने धनुष को 'मध्ये' (बीच में) से पकड़ा, जो संतुलन और आत्मविश्वास का प्रतीक है। राजा और मुनि की स्वीकृति मिलते ही, बिना किसी अतिरिक्त प्रयास या तनाव के, श्रीराम ने वह कार्य कर दिखाया जो असंभव माना जा रहा था। यह उनकी अलौकिक शक्ति का प्रथम सार्वजनिक प्रदर्शन था।
