Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
निपेतुः च नराः सर्वे तेन शब्देन मोहिताः ।
व्रजयित्वा मुनि वरम् राजानम् तौ च राघवौ ॥ ॥१-६७-१९॥
Nipetuḥ ca narāḥ sarve tena śabdena mohitāḥ । Vrajayitvā muni varam rājānam tau ca rāghavau ॥ ॥1-67-19॥
Translation
Stunned by that loud sound, all the people fell down, except for the eminent Sage (Vishvamitra), the King (Janaka), and the two Raghava brothers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस भयंकर शब्द से मोहित (मूर्छित) होकर सभी लोग गिर पड़े। केवल मुनिवर विश्वामित्र, राजा जनक और दोनों राघव (राम और लक्ष्मण) ही स्थिर रहे।
English Commentary
This verse brilliantly separates the extraordinary from the ordinary. The sonic boom was so overwhelming that the general populace fainted or lost their balance. However, four figures remained standing: Vishvamitra, Janaka, Rama, and Lakshmana. This distinction highlights their spiritual fortitude and mental strength. Vishvamitra and Janaka are grounded by their asceticism and wisdom, while Rama and Lakshmana stand tall due to their divine nature. Lakshmana’s composure is particularly notable; he is unfazed, perhaps because he fully expected this outcome from his brother.

यह श्लोक मुख्य पात्रों के आत्मबल और धैर्य को रेखांकित करता है। ध्वनि इतनी तीव्र थी कि सामान्य जन उसे सहन नहीं कर सके और अचेत होकर गिर पड़े। लेकिन चार व्यक्ति अडिग खड़े रहे—विश्वामित्र (तपस्या के बल पर), राजा जनक (ज्ञान और योग के बल पर), तथा राम और लक्ष्मण (स्वयं महाशक्ति होने के कारण)। यह दृश्य दिखाता है कि जो लोग सत्य और धर्म में स्थित होते हैं, वे प्रलयकारी स्थितियों में भी विचलित नहीं होते। लक्ष्मण का स्थिर रहना यह भी दिखाता है कि उन्हें अपने भाई के पराक्रम पर पूर्ण विश्वास था, इसलिए उन्हें कोई आश्चर्य या भय नहीं हुआ।
