न एतत् सुर गणाः सर्वे स असुरा न च राक्षसाः ।
गंधर्व यक्ष प्रवराः स किन्नर महोरगाः ॥ ॥१-६७-९॥
Na etat sura gaṇāḥ sarve sa asurā na ca rākṣasāḥ |
Gandharva yakṣa pravarāḥ sa kinnara mahoragāḥ ॥1-67-9॥
Translation
"Neither the hosts of gods, nor the Asuras, nor the Rakshasas, nor the excellent Gandharvas and Yakshas, nor the Kinnaras and great serpents (Mahoragas) [can string this bow]."

"न तो समस्त देवता, न असुर, न राक्षस, न गन्धर्व, न यक्षराज और न ही किन्नर या बड़े-बड़े नाग (महोरग) ही इस धनुष को (चढ़ा सके)।"
English Commentary
Janaka expands the scope of the bow's unyieldability. He lists celestial and supernatural beings: Suras (gods), Asuras (demons), Rakshasas, Gandharvas, Yakshas, and Mahoragas (great serpents). If these beings, who possess superhuman strength and magic, cannot master the bow, the implication is that it operates on a plane higher than mere muscle power. It sets the bow as a cosmic artifact, not just a terrestrial weapon.

जनक अब धनुष की कठिनाई के स्तर को मानव लोक से ऊपर ले जाते हैं। वे कहते हैं कि केवल मनुष्य ही नहीं, बल्कि देवता, असुर, गंधर्व, यक्ष और 'महोरग' (विशाल सर्प/नाग) भी इसके सामने विवश हैं। जब अलौकिक शक्तियों वाले प्राणी भी इसे नहीं साध सकते, तो सामान्य मनुष्य की क्या बिसात? यह सूची उस कार्य की असंभवता ('Impossibility') को स्थापित करती है जिसे राम सिद्ध करने वाले हैं।
