Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स उपाध्यायो महाराज पुरोहित पुरस्कृतः ।
शीघ्रम् आगच्छ भद्रम् ते द्रष्टुम् अर्हसि राघवौ ॥ ॥१-६८-११॥
Sa upādhyāyo mahārāja purohita puraskṛtaḥ । Śīghram āgaccha bhadram te draṣṭum arhasi rāghavau ॥ ॥1-68-11॥
Translation
"O Great King! May you be blessed. Please come quickly, placing your preceptors and priests at the head, to see the two Raghava brothers."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे महाराज! आपका कल्याण हो। आप अपने गुरुओं (उपाध्यायों) और पुरोहितों को आगे करके शीघ्र पधारें और दोनों राघव कुमारों (राम और लक्ष्मण) के दर्शन करें।"
English Commentary
This is the formal summons. Janaka invites Dasharatha to come shighram (quickly), but not alone—he must bring the spiritual establishment of Ayodhya (teachers and priests) to conduct the Vedic rites. The phrase bhadram te (blessings to you) serves as a gentle persuasion. Most significantly, Janaka appeals to Dasharatha’s paternal love by inviting him to 'see the two Raghavas.' He knows that the prospect of reuniting with his sons is the strongest motivation for the aging King to undertake the journey.

यह निमंत्रण का मुख्य भाग है। जनक दशरथ को अकेले नहीं, बल्कि 'पुरोहित पुरस्कृतः' (पुरोहितों को आगे रखकर) बुला रहे हैं। इसका अर्थ है कि वे विवाह संस्कार के लिए पूरी तैयारी के साथ आएँ। वशिष्ठ आदि ऋषियों की उपस्थिति विवाह की वैधता और पवित्रता के लिए आवश्यक है। जनक एक पिता की कमजोरी भी जानते हैं—दशरथ अपने पुत्रों के बिना व्याकुल हैं। इसलिए वे कहते हैं 'द्रष्टुम् अर्हसि राघवौ' (आप दोनों राघवों को देखने योग्य हैं)। यह वाक्य दशरथ को तुरंत अयोध्या छोड़ने के लिए प्रेरित करने वाला सबसे बड़ा आकर्षण है।
