यदि वो रोचते वृत्तम् जनकस्य महात्मनः ।
पुरीम् गच्छामहे शीघ्रम् मा भूत् कालस्य पर्ययः ॥ ॥१-६८-१७॥
Yadi vo rocate vṛttam janakasya mahātmanaḥ । Purīm gacchāmahe śīghram mā bhūt kālasya paryayaḥ ॥ ॥1-68-17॥
Translation
"If this conduct/proposal of the high-souled Janaka is agreeable to you, let us go to his city quickly. Let there be no waste of time."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"यदि महात्मा जनक का यह व्यवहार (प्रस्ताव) आप लोगों को रुचिकर लगता है, तो हम शीघ्र ही उनकी पुरी (मिथिला) चलें। इसमें समय व्यर्थ न हो।"
English Commentary
Dasharatha seeks consensus. Despite his evident eagerness, he asks his council, 'If this pleases you' (yadi vo rocate). This shows he values collective decision-making. However, his desire is clear in the second line where he urges urgency—'Let there be no waste of time' (ma bhut kalasya paryayah). He wants to strike while the iron is hot. The verse balances royal courtesy with paternal impatience to reunite with his sons and celebrate their success.

राजा दशरथ यहाँ लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों का परिचय देते हैं। वे राजा हैं, लेकिन वे आदेश देने के बजाय पूछते हैं—'यदि वो रोचते' (यदि तुम्हें अच्छा लगे)। वे अपने मंत्रियों और गुरुओं की सहमति चाहते हैं। 'मा भूत् कालस्य पर्ययः' (समय का फेर/नाश न हो) उनकी आतुरता को दर्शाता है। वे एक क्षण भी व्यर्थ नहीं करना चाहते। यह दिखाता है कि वे जनक के प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार करने के लिए कितने उत्सुक हैं, लेकिन वे प्रोटोकॉल का पालन करना नहीं भूलते।
