ततो रात्र्याम् व्यतीतायाम् स उपाध्यायः स बान्धवः ।
राजा दशरथो हृष्टः सुमंत्रम् इदम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥१-६९-१॥
Tato rātryām vyatītāyām sa upādhyāyaḥ sa bāndhavaḥ । Rājā daśaratho hṛṣṭaḥ sumaṃtram idam abravīt ॥ ॥1-69-1॥
Translation
Then, when the night had passed, King Dasharatha, accompanied by his preceptors and kinsmen, and filled with joy, spoke this to Sumantra.

रात बीतने पर, अपने उपाध्यायों और बन्धु-बान्धवों के साथ प्रसन्नचित्त राजा दशरथ ने (अपने महामंत्री) सुमंत्र से यह कहा।
English Commentary
A new chapter begins as the night passes. The focus shifts to the logistical execution of the journey. Dasharatha is surrounded by his support system: religious teachers (upadhyaya) and family members (bandhava). His mood remains jubilant (hrishtah). He addresses Sumantra, his charioteer and prime minister. Addressing Sumantra is significant because he is the one who executes the King's will and manages the practical aspects of moving the royal entourage. The stage is set for the grand procession to Mithila.

अगले दिन की सुबह (सर्ग 69 का प्रारंभ)। रात बीत गई है और यात्रा का समय हो गया है। दशरथ अकेले नहीं हैं, वे 'स उपाध्यायः' (गुरुओं के साथ) और 'स बान्धवः' (रिश्तेदारों के साथ) तैयार हैं। उनकी प्रसन्नता ('हृष्टः') अभी भी बनी हुई है। वे अपने सारथी और सबसे विश्वसनीय मंत्री 'सुमंत्र' को निर्देश देते हैं। सुमंत्र अयोध्या के प्रशासन और रसद (logistics) के प्रमुख थे, इसलिए यात्रा की व्यवस्था उन्हीं को करनी थी। यह श्लोक अयोध्या से बारात के प्रस्थान की भूमिका बांधता है।
