Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
उवास परम प्रीतो जनकेन सुपूजितः ।
जनको अपि महातेजाः क्रिया धर्मेण तत्त्ववित् ।
यज्ञस्य च सुताभ्याम् च कृत्वा रात्रिम् उवास ह ॥ ॥१-६९-१९॥
Uvāsa parama prīto Janakena supūjitaḥ । Janako api mahātejāḥ kriyā dharmeṇa tattvavit । Yajñasya ca sutābhyām ca kṛtvā rātrim uvāsa ha ॥ ॥1-69-19॥
Translation
Dasharatha stayed there, extremely pleased and well-honored by Janaka. Janaka too, possessed of great splendor and knowing the essence of Dharma, performed the rituals for the Yajna and for his daughters according to the scriptures, and then passed the night.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा दशरथ जनक द्वारा भली-भांति सत्कार पाकर परम प्रसन्नता के साथ वहां रहे। उधर महातेजस्वी और धर्म के तत्व को जानने वाले राजा जनक ने भी यज्ञ की और अपनी पुत्रियों (के विवाह) संबंधी क्रियाएं विधिपूर्वक संपन्न करके रात्रि विश्राम किया।
English Commentary
The verse concludes the day's events. Dasharatha is described as supūjitaḥ (well-worshipped/honored), indicating Janaka's excellent hospitality. Meanwhile, Janaka, the philosopher-king (tattvavit - knower of reality), attends to his duties before resting. He performs the necessary rites for the concluding Yajna and the preparatory rituals for his daughters (sutābhyām). It highlights Janaka's dual role as a host and a father/performer of sacrifices, ensuring no ritual detail is missed despite the excitement.
