Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
गत्वा चतुर् अहम् मार्गम् विदेहान् अभ्युपेयिवान् ।
राजा तु जनकः श्रीमान् श्रुत्वा पूजाम् अकल्पयत् ॥ ॥१-६९-७॥
Gatvā catur aham mārgam Videhān abhyupeyivān । Rājā tu Janakaḥ śrīmān śrutvā pūjām akalpayat ॥ ॥1-69-7॥
Translation
After traveling a path of four days, he (Dasharatha) reached the Videha kingdom. The glorious King Janaka, hearing of this, arranged for a welcome/worship.
हिंदी अनुवाद
चार दिन तक मार्ग में चलकर राजा दशरथ विदेह देश (मिथिला) जा पहुँचे। श्रीमान राजा जनक ने (उनके आने का समाचार) सुनकर उनके सत्कार की व्यवस्था की।
English Commentary
This verse provides specific geographical and temporal context. The journey took four days (catur aham), which implies a swift march given the distance between Ayodhya and Mithila. Upon arrival in Videha, King Janaka, described as śrīmān (glorious/illustrious), immediately arranges for a reception. यहाँ यात्रा की अवधि 'चार दिन' बताई गई है। अयोध्या से मिथिला की दूरी को देखते हुए, चार दिन में पहुँचना उस समय के यातायात के साधनों (रथों और पशुओं) के हिसाब से अत्यंत तीव्र गति है। यह दशरथ की शीघ्रता की पुष्टि करता है। विदेह देश पहुँचने पर, राजा जनक को जैसे ही समाचार मिला, उन्होंने 'पूजा' (सम्मान-सत्कार) का आयोजन किया। यह दो महाशक्तियों और दो समधी-पक्षों का मिलन है, इसलिए स्वागत की भव्यता का संकेत 'पूजाम् अकल्पयत्' शब्दों में मिलता है।
