श्रीमन्तः च महात्मनः शास्त्रज्ञा धृढ विक्रमाः ।
कीर्तिमन्तः प्रणिहिता यथा वचन कारिणः ॥१-७-७॥
śrīmantaḥ ca mahātmanaḥ śāstrajñā dhṛḍha vikramāḥ |
kīrtimantaḥ praṇihitā yathā vacana kāriṇaḥ ॥1-7-7॥
Translation
They were all prosperous (splendid/resplendent), great-souled (Mahātmanas), knowers of the scriptures, possessing firm valor (unwavering prowess), famous (glorious), self-controlled (well-concentrated), and were those who acted according to their word (or the King's instructions).

English Commentary
✨ The Grandeur and Virtues of the Court Members
This verse is the seventh shloka of Sarga 7 in the Balakanda of Valmiki Ramayana. It functions as a summary by describing the collective virtues of all the previously mentioned members of the royal council—the chief ministers, other advisors, and the Ṛtvijas (priests). It encapsulates the splendor and high character of the scholars and officials who contributed to Emperor Dasharatha's successful rule.
The verse lists several superb qualities: they were 'śrīmantaḥ' (prosperous and splendid), 'mahātmanaḥ' (great-souled), 'śāstrajñāḥ' (knowers of the scriptures), and possessed 'dhṛḍha vikramāḥ' (firm valor). These attributes indicate that the council members were not only intellectually proficient but also practically strong and courageous, capable of executing their duties effectively.
