कः स्थितः प्रतिहारो मे कस्य आज्ञा संप्रतीक्ष्यते ।
स्व गृहे को विचारो अस्ति यथा राज्यम् इदम् तव ॥ ॥१-७३-१४॥
Kaḥ sthitaḥ pratihāro me kasya ājñā saṃpratīkṣyate । Sva gṛhe ko vicāro asti yathā rājyam idam tava ॥ ॥1-73-14॥
Translation
(Janaka said:) "Who is acting as a doorkeeper here? Whose command are you waiting for? What hesitation can there be in one's own house? Just as this kingdom is mine, so it is yours."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(जनक ने कहा:) "मेरे यहाँ कौन द्वारपाल खड़ा है (जो आपको रोके)? और किसकी आज्ञा की प्रतीक्षा की जा रही है? अपने ही घर में कैसा संकोच? यह राज्य जैसा मेरा है, वैसा ही आपका है।"
English Commentary
This verse showcases Janaka's profound humility and the dissolution of formal boundaries between the two families. He rhetorically asks who is blocking the way, implying that for Dasharatha and Vasistha, there are no doors and no guards. By declaring 'This kingdom is yours just as it is mine,' Janaka elevates the relationship from a formal alliance to a familial bond. He rejects the need for permission to enter, treating the groom's party not as guests who need to wait, but as owners of the house returning home.

यह रामायण के सबसे सुंदर और भावपूर्ण संवादों में से एक है। जनक कहते हैं कि औपचारिक अनुमति की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। वे दशरथ और वसिष्ठ को पराया नहीं मानते। "यह राज्य आपका ही है"—यह कथन समधित्व (संबंधियों) के बीच के अद्वैत और प्रेम को दर्शाता है। जनक का यह कहना कि "कौन द्वारपाल खड़ा है?" यह बताता है कि उनके द्वार राम और दशरथ के लिए सदैव खुले हैं; वहाँ कोई बाधा नहीं है। यह राजसी शिष्टाचार से परे आत्मीयता का प्रदर्शन है।
