Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ततो राजा विदेहानाम् वशिष्ठम् इदं अब्रवीत् ।
कारयस्व ऋषे सर्वान् ऋषिभिः सह धार्मिक ॥ ॥१-७३-१८॥
Tato rājā videhānām vaśiṣṭham idam abravīt । Kārayasva ṛṣe sarvān ṛṣibhiḥ saha dhārmika ॥ ॥1-73-18॥
Translation
Then, the King of the Videhas spoke this to Vasistha: "O righteous Sage! Along with the other sages, please conduct all the rites."

तदनन्तर विदेहराज जनक ने वसिष्ठ जी से यह कहा: "हे धर्मात्मा महर्षि! अब आप अन्य ऋषियों के साथ मिलकर समस्त वैवाहिक कार्य संपन्न करावें।"
English Commentary
The stage is set. King Janaka now formally hands over the control of the ceremony to Vasistha. By addressing Vasistha as Dharmika (righteous one) and asking him to conduct the rites Rishibhih saha (along with the other sages), Janaka ensures the ceremony adheres to the strictest Vedic standards. This marks the end of the preliminary greetings and the beginning of the sacred wedding rituals of Rama and Sita. The host steps back to let the spiritual masters orchestrate the divine union.

अब जब सब लोग यथास्थान बैठ गए हैं, जनक अनुष्ठान का भार वसिष्ठ को सौंपते हैं। यद्यपि जनक स्वयं 'ब्रह्मज्ञानी' हैं, वे वसिष्ठ (जो रघुकुल के गुरु हैं) को मुख्य पुरोहित के रूप में सम्मान देते हैं। 'कारयस्व' (करवाइये) कहकर वे विवाह की बागडोर ऋषियों के हाथ में देते हैं। यहाँ 'धार्मिक' शब्द वसिष्ठ के लिए प्रयोग किया गया है, जो यह विश्वास दिलाता है कि विवाह पूर्ण वैदिक विधि-विधान और धर्म के अनुसार संपन्न होगा।
