पुत्रः केकय राजस्य साक्षात् भरत मातुलः ।
दृष्ट्वा पृष्ट्वा च कुशलम् राजानम् इदम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥१-७३-२॥
Putraḥ Kekaya rājasya sākṣāt Bharata mātulaḥ । Dṛṣṭvā pṛṣṭvā ca kuśalam rājānam idam abravīt ॥ ॥1-73-2॥
Translation
He was the son of the King of Kekaya and the direct maternal uncle of Bharata. Seeing the King and asking about his welfare, he spoke this.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे केकय राज के पुत्र और भरत के सगे मामा थे। उन्होंने राजा (दशरथ) के दर्शन किए और कुशलता पूछने के बाद यह (वचन) कहा।
English Commentary
The identity of the guest is confirmed: Yudhajit, the prince of Kekaya and Bharata's maternal uncle. The interactions follow the standard protocols of royal meetings—visual acknowledgement (dṛṣṭvā) followed by inquiries of health and well-being (pṛṣṭvā ca kuśalam). This sets the stage for Yudhajit to explain his sudden appearance at a wedding he wasn't originally invited to (due to distance and time constraints).
