श्रुतकीर्तेः महाबाहो पाणिम् गृह्णीष्व पाणिना ।
सर्वे भवन्तः सौम्याः च सर्वे सुचरित व्रताः ॥ ॥१-७३-३३॥
Śrutakīrteḥ mahābāho pāṇim gṛhṇīṣva pāṇinā |
Sarve bhavantaḥ saumyāḥ ca sarve sucarita vratāḥ ॥1-73-33॥
Translation
"O mighty-armed one (Shatrughna), take the hand of Shrutakirti in yours. You are all gentle in nature and all represent good character and firm vows."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे महाबाहु (शत्रुघ्न)! तुम श्रुतकीर्ति का हाथ अपने हाथ में लो। आप सभी भाई सौम्य (सुंदर स्वभाव वाले) हैं और सभी उत्तम चरित्र तथा व्रतों का पालन करने वाले हैं।"
English Commentary
Janaka addresses the youngest brother, Shatrughna, asking him to wed Shrutakirti (sister of Mandavi). After assigning the brides, Janaka pauses to praise all four grooms collectively. He calls them "Saumyah" (gentle/pleasant) and "Sucharita vratah" (of excellent character and vows). For a father figure, verifying the character of the grooms is paramount. Janaka acknowledges that while they are "Mahabaho" (mighty warriors), their true strength lies in their moral integrity. This concludes the verbal assignment of the brides to the grooms.

जनक जी अब सबसे छोटे भाई शत्रुघ्न को संबोधित करते हैं। श्रुतकीर्ति भी कुशध्वज की पुत्री हैं। चारों विवाहों का प्रस्ताव रखने के बाद, जनक जी भावविभोर होकर चारों भाइयों की सामूहिक प्रशंसा करते हैं। वे उन्हें 'सौम्याः' (भद्र/शांत स्वभाव वाले) और 'सुचरित व्रताः' (सच्चरित्र और सदाचारी) कहते हैं। एक पिता के लिए इससे बड़ा संतोष क्या हो सकता है कि उसकी पुत्रियों को ऐसे वर मिलें जो न केवल वीर ('महाबाहो') हों, बल्कि चरित्रवान भी हों। यह श्लोक जनक की मानसिक तुष्टि और रघुकुल के राजकुमारों के प्रति उनके गहरे सम्मान को दर्शाता है।
