Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अथ उपकार्याम् जग्मुः ते स दारा रघुनंदनाः ।
राजा अपि अनुययौ पश्यन् स ऋषि संघः स बान्धवः ॥ ॥१-७३-४०॥
Atha upakāryām jagmuḥ te sa dārā raghunandanāḥ |
Rājā api anuyayau paśyan sa ṛṣi saṃghaḥ sa bāndhavaḥ ॥1-73-40॥
Translation
Then, the scions of Raghu went to their royal pavilions (tents) with their wives. The King (Dasharatha) also followed them, accompanied by the sages and relatives, looking affectionately at them.

तदनन्तर वे रघुकुल नंदन अपनी पत्नियों के साथ 'उपकार्य' (जनवासे/तंबू) में गए। राजा (दशरथ) भी ऋषियों और बंधु-बांधवों के साथ उन्हें देखते हुए पीछे-पीछे गए।
English Commentary
The ceremony concludes, and the party retires. "Upakaryam" refers to the royal tents or temporary guest palaces erected for the wedding party. The princes now process with their new wives ("Sa dara"). King Dasharatha follows them, watching ("Pashyan")—a touch illustrating a father's protective and admiring gaze. The presence of the "Rishi sangha" (group of sages) indicates that the spiritual guides accompanied them until the very end of the event, ensuring everything concluded auspiciously.

विवाह संस्कार पूर्ण होने के बाद अब विश्राम का समय है। 'उपकार्याम्' का अर्थ है अस्थायी निवास, तंबू या जनवासा जो बारात के लिए बनाया गया था। 'स दारा' (पत्नियों के साथ) जाना गृहस्थ जीवन की शुरुआत है। राजा दशरथ का अपने पुत्रों और नई बहुओं को देखते हुए पीछे चलना ('पश्यन् अनुययौ') उनके वात्सल्य और गर्व को दर्शाता है। वे अब निश्चिंत हैं कि उनके चारों पुत्रों का विवाह हो गया है। ऋषियों और बंधुओं का साथ होना सामाजिक और पारिवारिक पूर्णता को दिखाता है।
