Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ददौ राजा सुसंहृष्टः कन्या धनम् अनुत्तमम् ।
दत्त्वा बहु विधम् राजा समनुज्ञाप्य पार्थिवम् ॥ ॥१-७४-६॥
Dadau rājā susaṃhṛṣṭaḥ kanyā dhanam anuttamam |
Dattvā bahu vidham rājā samanujñāpya pārthivam ॥1-74-6॥
Translation
The King (Janaka), filled with great joy, gave this incomparable bridal wealth. Having given gifts of many kinds, the King sought permission from the Lord of the Earth (Dasharatha) to depart.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा जनक ने अत्यंत प्रसन्न होकर यह उत्तम कन्या-धन दिया। इस प्रकार बहुत प्रकार का दान देकर, राजा (जनक) ने पृथ्वीपति (दशरथ) से आज्ञा (विदा) ली।
English Commentary
The attitude of the giver is highlighted as "Susamhrishta" (extremely delighted). In the Vedic tradition, giving casually or with regret bears no fruit; Janaka gives with a full heart. After completing the formalities of the gifts, he follows the royal protocol by asking King Dasharatha for permission ("Samanujnapya") to leave the camp and return to his palace. This mutual respect defines the relationship between the two great monarchs.
हिंदी टीका
दान देने वाले का भाव सबसे महत्वपूर्ण होता है। यहाँ लिखा है 'सुसंहृष्टः' (अत्यंत हर्षित)। जनक को धन जाने का दुःख नहीं, बल्कि पुत्रियों के सुपात्र वरों को मिलने का सुख है। दान देने के बाद, शिष्टाचार का पालन करते हुए, जनक ने राजा दशरथ ('पार्थिवम्') से विदा ली। यद्यपि जनक एक महान ज्ञानी (विदेह) हैं, किन्तु सांसारिक व्यवहार में वे समधी होने के नाते दशरथ को पूरा सम्मान देते हैं। यह विदाई का औपचारिक क्षण है।
