English Commentary
Parashurama traces the lineage of his weapon. Vishnu entrusted this bow as a "nyasam" (sacred deposit/trust) to Sage Richika, a descendant of Bhrigu and Parashurama's grandfather. This legitimizes Parashurama's possession of the weapon—it wasn't stolen or found; it was divinely bequeathed. Richika then passed it to his son (Parashurama's father), described here as having unmatched deeds ("apratikarmanah"). This lineage highlights the bow's association with the Bhrigu clan's spiritual and martial legacy.

अब वैष्णव धनुष की वंशावली बताई जा रही है। युद्ध के बाद विष्णु ने अपना धनुष अपने पास नहीं रखा, बल्कि उसे 'न्यास' (धरोहर/अमानत) के रूप में भृगुवंशी ऋषि 'ऋचीक' (परशुराम के दादा) को दे दिया। यह दर्शाता है कि यह धनुष परशुराम को वंश-परंपरा से मिला है। ऋचीक ने इसे अपने पुत्र (जमदग्नि) को सौंपा। 'अप्रतिकर्मणः' (जिसके कर्मों का कोई मुकाबला न हो) विशेषण जमदग्नि के लिए प्रयोग किया गया है।
