Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अक्षय्यम् मधु हन्तारम् जानामि त्वाम् सुरेश्वरम् ।
धनुषो अस्य परामर्शात् स्वस्ति ते अस्तु परंतप ॥१-७६-१७॥
akṣayyam madhu hantāram jānāmi tvām sureśvaram |
dhanuṣo asya parāmarśāt svasti te astu paraṃtapa ॥1-76-17॥
Translation
I know you to be the Imperishable, the Slayer of the demon Madhu, and the Lord of Gods. By the mere handling of this bow, (I recognize you). May prosperity be yours, O Scorcher of Foes.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे परंतप! इस धनुष को चढ़ा देने (स्पर्श करने) मात्र से मैंने जान लिया है कि आप अविनाशी, मधु दैत्य का वध करने वाले (विष्णु) और देवताओं के स्वामी हैं। आपका कल्याण हो।
English Commentary
This is the moment of full recognition (Pratyabhijna). Parashurama acknowledges Rama not just as a powerful king, but as Sureshwara (God of Gods) and the Slayer of Madhu (Vishnu). The litmus test was the stringing of the Vaishnava bow. Crucially, instead of resentment, Parashurama offers a benediction ("Svasti te astu"). This highlights the unity of the divine mission; the avatar of the axe gracefully cedes the stage to the avatar of the bow, recognizing that the same divine essence functions in both.

परशुराम जी अब पूर्ण रूप से श्री राम के वास्तविक स्वरूप को पहचान चुके हैं। 'मधु हन्तारम्' (मधुसूदन/विष्णु) विशेषण का प्रयोग यह पुष्टि करता है कि वे राम को साक्षात् विष्णु अवतार मान रहे हैं। वे जानते हैं कि वैष्णव धनुष को केवल स्वयं विष्णु ही धारण कर सकते हैं। अपनी पराजय के बावजूद, वे राम के प्रति ईर्ष्या नहीं रखते, बल्कि 'स्वस्ति ते अस्तु' (आपका कल्याण हो) कहकर आशीर्वाद देते हैं। यह एक पूर्ववर्ती अवतार द्वारा अपने उत्तराधिकारी को दी गई औपचारिक मान्यता और आशीष है।
