न च इयम् तव काकुत्स्थ व्रीडा भवितुम् अर्हति ।
त्वया त्रैलोक्य नाथेन यत् अहम् विमुखी कृतः ॥१-७६-१९॥
na ca iyam tava kākutstha vrīḍā bhavitum arhati |
tvayā trailokya nāthena yat aham vimukhī kṛtaḥ ॥1-76-19॥
Translation
Nor should this be a cause of shame for you [thinking you humiliated a sage], O Kakutstha, for I have been humbled by you, the Lord of the Three Worlds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे काकुत्स्थ! तीनों लोकों के स्वामी (त्रैलोक्यनाथ) आप के द्वारा जो मैं पराजित (विमुख) किया गया हूँ, इसमें मुझे कोई लज्जा नहीं है।
English Commentary
Parashurama addresses a subtle point of dharma. Usually, a Kshatriya humbling a Brahmana/Sage might be seen as a transgression. However, Parashurama absolves Rama of any potential guilt or awkwardness ("vrida"). He reframes the defeat: being humbled by the "Lord of the Three Worlds" is not a disgrace but a privilege. It reaffirms that hierarchy exists even among the great, and submitting to the Supreme is the ultimate dharma. This statement clears the moral path for Rama to proceed without the burden of having insulted a senior sage.

यह श्लोक परशुराम जी की महानता और स्पष्टवादिता को दर्शाता है। वे कहते हैं कि हारना लज्जा की बात होती है, किन्तु स्वयं ईश्वर (त्रैलोक्यनाथ) से हारना लज्जा नहीं, बल्कि मुक्ति है। साथ ही, वे राम को भी आश्वस्त कर रहे हैं कि उन्हें (राम को) एक ब्राह्मण या ऋषि को हराने का संकोच या 'व्रीडा' (ग्लानि) नहीं होनी चाहिए, क्योंकि यह सामान्य हार-जीत नहीं, बल्कि दैवीय योजना का हिस्सा है। परशुराम जी अपनी हार को 'विमुखी कृत' (विमुख करना/हराना) के रूप में स्वीकारते हुए भी गौरवान्वित हैं।
