गते रामे प्रशांत आत्मा रामो दाशरथिः धनुः ।
वरुणाय अप्रमेयाय ददौ हस्ते महायशाः ॥१-७७-१॥
gate rāme praśānta ātmā rāmo dāśarathiḥ dhanuḥ |
varuṇāya aprameyāya dadau haste mahāyaśaḥ ॥1-77-1॥
Translation
When (Parashurama) Rama had departed, the peaceful-souled and highly illustrious Dasharathi Rama gave that bow into the hand of the immeasurable Varuna.
हिंदी अनुवाद
परशुराम जी के चले जाने पर, शांत चित्त वाले महायशस्वी दाशरथि राम ने वह (वैष्णव) धनुष अप्रमेय (जिसकी शक्ति का पार न पाया जा सके) वरुण देव के हाथ में सौंप दिया।
English Commentary
Once the confrontation ends, Rama instantly returns to his composure ("prashanta atma"). He entrusts the celestial bow of Vishnu to Varuna, the god of waters and guardian of the West/cosmic order. This act signifies that Rama, currently playing the role of a human prince, does not intend to wield such cosmic weaponry in his daily life in Ayodhya. He deposits it for safekeeping, to be reclaimed later in the epic when his battle against the Rakshasas begins in earnest.

परशुराम के जाते ही राम पुनः 'प्रशांत आत्मा' (शांत चित्त) हो गए। उनका क्रोध या उग्रता केवल धर्म कार्य के लिए थी, स्वभावगत नहीं। उन्होंने वह दिव्य वैष्णव धनुष वरुण देव को सौंप दिया क्योंकि अभी उस धनुष के उपयोग का समय नहीं था। यह राम की दूरदर्शिता है; वे शक्तिशाली शस्त्रों का अनावश्यक प्रदर्शन या संग्रह नहीं करते। यह धनुष भविष्य में (अरण्य काण्ड में) अगस्त्य मुनि के माध्यम से उन्हें पुनः प्राप्त होगा।
