English Commentary
Domestic bliss is restored. The King is surrounded by his "svajana" (kin) and comforts. The mention of the three queens—Kausalya, Sumitra, and Kaikeyi—sets the scene for the reception of the brides (Sita, Urmila, Mandavi, Shrutakirti). Note the descriptor "sumadhyama" (slender-waisted/beautiful) for Kaikeyi, hinting at her favored status and beauty, which plays a crucial role in the next book (Ayodhya Kanda).
