भरतम् कैकेयी पुत्रम् अब्रवीत् रघुनंदन ।
अयम् केकय राजस्य पुत्रो वसति पुत्रक ॥१-७७-१६॥
bharatam kaikeyī putram abravīt raghunandana |
ayam kekaya rājasya putro vasati putraka ॥1-77-16॥
Translation
(Dasharatha) spoke to Kaikeyi's son, Bharat: "O Raghunandana (Delight of the Raghus)! Here dwells the son of the Kekaya King, O my son."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(दशरथ ने) कैकेयी के पुत्र भरत से कहा— "हे पुत्र रघुनंदन! ये केकय राज के पुत्र (युधाजित्) यहाँ निवास कर रहे हैं।"
English Commentary
Here, Dasharatha addresses Bharat using the term 'Raghunandana'. Although this epithet is usually associated with Rama, Bharat also deserves it as a beacon of the Raghu clan. Dasharatha is reminding Bharat that their uncle Yudhajit, who attended the wedding, is still here. Yudhajit's staying is intended to take Bharat away with him. This conversation blends affection and formal duty between father and son.

यहाँ दशरथ भरत को 'रघुनंदन' कहते हैं। यद्यपि यह विशेषण प्रायः राम के लिए प्रयुक्त होता है, किन्तु रघुकुल का दीपक होने के नाते भरत भी इसके अधिकारी हैं। दशरथ भरत को याद दिला रहे हैं कि उनके मामा युधाजित्, जो विवाह में आए थे, अभी तक यहीं रुके हुए हैं। युधाजित् का रुकना इस उद्देश्य से था कि वे भरत को अपने साथ ले जाएं। यह संवाद पिता और पुत्र के बीच के स्नेह और औपचारिक कर्तव्यों का मिश्रण है।
