रामस्य शील वृत्तेन सर्वम् विषय वासिनः ।
तेषाम् अति यशा लोके रामः सत्य पराक्रमः ॥ ॥१-७७-२४॥
Rāmasya śīla vṛttena sarvam viṣaya vāsinaḥ |
Teṣām ati yaśā loke rāmaḥ satya parākramaḥ ॥1-77-24॥
Translation
Through his disposition (shila) and conduct (vritta), Rama became the beloved of all the inhabitants of the kingdom. Being of truthful valor, his fame spread extensively among them and throughout the world.

श्री राम अपने शील (स्वभाव) और वृत्त (आचरण) के कारण समस्त देशवासियों के प्रिय बन गए थे। सत्य पराक्रम वाले राम की कीर्ति उन लोगों के बीच और समस्त लोक में अत्यधिक फैल गई थी।
English Commentary
Valmiki Ramayana here distinguishes between two key aspects of personality: Shila (internal character/disposition) and Vritta (external conduct/behavior). Rama excelled in both; he was internally pure and externally courteous. This combination made him endearing to all the vishaya vāsinaḥ (inhabitants of the region), proving that he won hearts through character rather than just royal authority. The epithet Satya-parākramaḥ (Truthful Valor) is significant. It indicates that Rama's strength was never used for vanity or oppression, but strictly for upholding truth and righteousness. This verse defines the archetype of a Dharma-bound leader whose fame (yasha) is a natural byproduct of his ethical consistency and genuine love for the people.
