Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सम्पूर्णाम् प्राविशत् राजा जन ओघैः समलम्कृताम् ।
पौरैः प्रति उद्गतो दूरम् द्विजैः च पुर वासिभिः ॥१-७७-८॥
sampūrṇām prāviśat rājā jana oghaiḥ samalamkṛtām |
pauraiḥ prati udgato dūram dvijaiḥ ca pura vāsibhiḥ ॥1-77-8॥
Translation
The King entered the populous city, adorned by crowds of people. He was met and received at a distance by the citizens and the Brahmanas dwelling in the city.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा ने उस नगरी में प्रवेश किया जो जन-समूहों से भरी हुई थी और शोभायमान हो रही थी। नगर निवासी और ब्राह्मण राजा के स्वागत के लिए बहुत दूर तक आगे आए हुए थे।
English Commentary
The immense popularity of the royal family is evident as the city is described as "full" ("sampurnam") of crowds. The fact that citizens and Brahmins came out "at a distance" ("duram") to meet them signifies their eagerness; they could not wait for the procession to reach the gates. It portrays a deep bond between the ruler and the ruled.
हिंदी टीका
'जन ओघैः' (जनता की बाढ़/भीड़) शब्द बताता है कि पूरी अयोध्या उमड़ पड़ी थी। लोग केवल दरवाज़े तक नहीं, बल्कि नगर से बाहर बहुत दूर ('दूरम्') तक स्वागत के लिए आ गए थे। यह राजा दशरथ और राम के प्रति उनकी आतुरता को दर्शाता है। ब्राह्मणों की उपस्थिति आशीर्वाद और धार्मिक मंगल का प्रतीक है।
