Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पश्य रूपाणि सौमित्रे वनानाम् पुष्प शालिनाम् ।
सृजताम् पुष्प वर्षाणि वर्षम् तोयमुचाम् इव ॥४-१-११॥
paśya rūpāṇi saumitre vanānām puṣpa śālinām |
sṛjatām puṣpa varṣāṇi varṣam toyamucām iva ॥4-1-11॥
Translation
Behold the forms of the forests, O Sumitra's son, shining with flowers! They are shedding showers of flowers just as rain-clouds shed rain.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सौमित्रे! फूलों से सुशोभित इन वनों के रूपों को देखो। ये पुष्पों की वर्षा उसी प्रकार कर रहे हैं जैसे मेघ (तोयमुच) जल की वर्षा करते हैं।
English Commentary
Rama employs a simile comparing the falling flowers to rain. The trees are the clouds (toyamucām - water releasers), and the petals are the raindrops. This creates a dynamic image of the forest; it is not static but in motion. The sheer volume of flowers is emphasized here—it is not just a few petals, but a "shower" (varṣāṇi). This abundance contrasts with the emptiness Rama feels in his personal life. He urges Lakshmana to witness this natural phenomenon, highlighting the spectacular visual transformations occurring in the forest.

यहाँ पुनः उपमा अलंकार है। वृक्षों से गिरते हुए फूलों की तुलना बादलों से गिरते हुए जल से की गई है। 'तोयमुच' का अर्थ है 'जल छोड़ने वाला' (बादल)। वसंत ऋतु में हवा के झोंकों से फूलों का गिरना एक वर्षा जैसा दृश्य उत्पन्न कर रहा है। राम प्रकृति की इस उदारता और संपन्नता को देख रहे हैं। 'पश्य' (देखो) शब्द की पुनरावृत्ति दर्शाती है कि राम बार-बार लक्ष्मण का ध्यान इस ओर खींच रहे हैं, जो उनकी व्याकुलता और आश्चर्य मिश्रित मनोदशा को दर्शाती है।
