यदि याति दितेः गर्भम् रावणः सह सीताया ।
तत्र अपि एनम् हनिष्यामि न चेत् दास्यति मैथिलीम् ॥ ॥४-१-११९॥
Yadi yāti Diteḥ garbham Rāvaṇaḥ saha Sītayā । Tatra api enam haniṣyāmi na cet dāsyati Maithilīm ॥ ॥4-1-119॥
Translation
Even if Ravana, along with Sita, enters the womb of Diti (the mother of Daityas), I will kill him even there if he does not surrender Maithili.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यदि रावण सीता सहित दिति (दैत्यों की माता) के गर्भ में भी प्रवेश कर जाए, और यदि वह मैथिली को नहीं लौटाता, तो मैं उसे वहाँ भी मार डालूँगा।
English Commentary
Lakshmana uses powerful imagery to emphasize the inescapability of their vengeance. Diti is the mother of the Asuras (demons); suggesting that Ravana could hide in her "womb" implies seeking the ultimate, primal sanctuary of the demon race. Lakshmana asserts that even such a supernatural refuge won't protect Ravana. This hyperbole serves to assure Rama that no force in the universe is strong enough to stand against their combined wrath once they decide to act. It is a declaration of total war against the abductor.

यह अतिशयोक्ति अलंकार का प्रयोग करते हुए लक्ष्मण के क्रोध और आत्मविश्वास का प्रदर्शन है। 'दिति का गर्भ' दैत्यों के लिए सबसे सुरक्षित आश्रय माना जा सकता है (प्रतीकात्मक रूप से मूल स्रोत या पाताल की गहराई)। लक्ष्मण कह रहे हैं कि ब्रह्मांड की कोई भी शक्ति, यहाँ तक कि असुरों की आदि-माता की शरण भी रावण को नहीं बचा सकती। 'मैथिलीम्' शब्द का प्रयोग विदेहराज जनक के कुल की गरिमा को याद दिलाने के लिए है। लक्ष्मण का यह रौद्र रूप राम के शोक को काटने के लिए आवश्यक है।
