याचे त्वाम् शिरसा राजन् मया बद्धो अयम् अंजलिः ।
बलात् अस्मिन् समागम्य मंत्रिभिः पुर वासिभिः ॥४-१०-१०॥
yāce tvām śirasā rājan mayā baddho ayam añjaliḥ |
balāt asmin samāgamya maṃtribhiḥ pura vāsibhiḥ ॥4-10-10॥
Translation
O King, I beg you with my head bowed; here are my hands joined in salutation. I was forcibly assembled and installed in this position by the ministers and the citizens.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राजन! मैं मस्तक झुकाकर आपसे याचना करता हूँ; मैंने यह हाथ जोड़ रखे हैं (अंजलिबद्ध हूँ)। मंत्रियों और पुरवासियों ने मिलकर बलपूर्वक मुझे इस (राजपद) पर आसीन किया था।
English Commentary
This verse completes the plea with physical demonstrations of submission. Sugriva bows his head (shirasa) and joins his palms (anjali), gestures that signify total surrender and lack of defensiveness in Indian culture. He reiterates the circumstances of his coronation using the word balat (forcibly), asserting that the ministers and citizens compelled him to take the throne against his will. By shifting the "blame" for the coronation onto the collective will of the court and the populace, Sugriva attempts to exonerate himself from the charge of treason. He appeals to Vali as "Rajan" (King), acknowledging Vali's sovereignty even before Vali has officially reclaimed the seat, thereby validating Vali's status verbally and physically.

यह अंतिम श्लोक सुग्रीव की पूर्ण शरणागति को दर्शाता है। 'शिरसा' (सिर से) और 'बद्धो अयम् अंजलिः' (हाथ जोड़कर) जैसी शारीरिक मुद्राएं अत्यंत दीनता और सम्मान प्रकट करती हैं। सुग्रीव यहाँ 'बलात्' (बलपूर्वक) शब्द का प्रयोग करते हैं, जो यह सिद्ध करने के लिए है कि राज्याभिषेक में उनकी सक्रिय भूमिका (Agency) नहीं थी। वे मंत्रियों और प्रजा को इस निर्णय का कर्ता बताते हैं। यह राजनीति में एक सामान्य बचाव पक्ष है—सामूहिक निर्णय की दुहाई देना। सुग्रीव वाली के पैरों में गिरकर यह विश्वास दिलाना चाहते हैं कि वे विद्रोही नहीं, बल्कि परिस्थितियों और प्रजा के दबाव के शिकार थे।
