अस्माद् गच्छाम किष्किन्धाम् क्षिप्रम् गच्छ त्वम् अग्रतः ।
गत्वा च आह्वय सुग्रीव वालिनम् भ्रातृ गन्धिनम् ॥ ॥४-१२-१३॥
asmād gacchāma kiṣkindhām kṣipram gaccha tvam agrataḥ । gatvā ca āhvaya sugrīva vālinam bhrātṛ gandhinam ॥ ॥4-12-13॥
Translation
Let us go from here to Kishkindha. O Sugriva! You go ahead quickly and, upon reaching, challenge Vali, who is a brother in name only.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हम यहाँ से किष्किन्धा चलते हैं। हे सुग्रीव! तुम शीघ्रता से आगे चलो और जाकर उस 'भाई-बंधु' कहलाने वाले वाली को युद्ध के लिए ललकारो।
English Commentary
Rama provides strategic instructions here. The term 'bhrātṛ gandhinam' is sarcastic, implying someone who has only the 'scent' or label of a brother but lacks the fraternal virtues. By sending Sugriva ahead, Rama ensures that Vali is lured out of his stronghold. This is a classic tactical move to draw the enemy into the open where he can be engaged effectively.

राम यहाँ रणनीतिक निर्देश दे रहे हैं। 'भ्रातृ गन्धिनम्' एक कटाक्ष है—जिसका अर्थ है वह जिसमें केवल भाई होने की 'गंध' या नाममात्र का संबंध है, पर गुण नहीं। राम सुग्रीव को आगे भेजकर यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहते हैं कि वाली बाहर आए। यह गुरिल्ला युद्धनीति का हिस्सा है जहाँ शत्रु को उसके सुरक्षित किले से बाहर खुले मैदान में लाया जाता है।
