सर्वे ते त्वरितम् गत्वा किष्किन्धाम् वालिनः पुरीम् ।
वृक्षैः आत्मानम् आवृत्य हि अतिष्ठन् गहने वने ॥ ॥४-१२-१४॥
sarve te tvaritam gatvā kiṣkindhām vālinaḥ purīm । vṛkṣaiḥ ātmānam āvṛtya hi atiṣṭhan gahane vane ॥ ॥4-12-14॥
Translation
All of them went quickly to Kishkindha, the city of Vali, and stood in the dense forest, concealing themselves behind trees.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे सभी शीघ्रता से वाली की नगरी किष्किन्धा गए और घने वन में वृक्षों की ओट में छिपकर खड़े हो गए।
English Commentary
This verse describes the setting of an ambush. Rama, Lakshmana, and the others do not storm the city but take cover in the dense forest. This highlights the tactical warfare described by Valmiki. Rama's concealment was necessary; if Vali had spotted the archers beforehand, he might not have emerged for a duel or might have brought his army, thwarting the plan for a one-on-one confrontation.

यह श्लोक युद्ध की व्यूहरचना (Ambush) का वर्णन करता है। राम, लक्ष्मण और अन्य वानर सीधे नगर में प्रवेश नहीं करते, बल्कि वन की आड़ लेते हैं। यह वाल्मीकि द्वारा वर्णित युद्ध कौशल को दर्शाता है। राम का छिपना आवश्यक था क्योंकि यदि वाली उन्हें पहले देख लेता, तो वह कदाचित बाहर ही न आता या अपनी सेना के साथ आता, जिससे द्वंद्व युद्ध (duel) की योजना विफल हो जाती।
