तलैः अशनि कल्पैः च वज्र कल्पैः च मुष्टिभिः ।
जघ्नतुः समरे अन्योन्यम् भ्रातरौ क्रोध मूर्च्छितौ ॥ ॥४-१२-१८॥
talaiḥ aśani kalpaiḥ ca vajra kalpaiḥ ca muṣṭibhiḥ । jaghnatuḥ samare anyonyam bhrātarau krodha mūrcchitau ॥ ॥4-12-18॥
Translation
Blinded by anger, the two brothers struck each other in battle with palms like thunderbolts and fists like diamond-hard weapons (Vajra).
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे दोनों भाई क्रोध में अंधे होकर युद्ध में एक-दूसरे पर बिजली के समान थप्पड़ों और वज्र के समान मुक्कों से प्रहार करने लगे।
English Commentary
The phrase 'krodha mūrcchitau' (deluded by anger) indicates that love and blood ties were completely forgotten in the heat of battle. This verse describes the Vanara style of combat—fighting without weapons, using only raw physical power (fists and palms). The metaphors of 'Ashani' (lightning) and 'Vajra' (thunderbolt) emphasize the lethal force of their blows, showing that both were intent on killing the other.

'क्रोध मूर्च्छितौ' (क्रोध से विवेकशून्य) पद यह बताता है कि युद्ध में प्रेम और रक्त-संबंध पूरी तरह विस्मृत हो चुके थे। वानर युद्ध शैली का वर्णन यहाँ है—बिना शस्त्रों के, केवल शारीरिक बल (मुष्टि और तल) का प्रयोग। 'अशनि' (बिजली) और 'वज्र' की उपमा उनके प्रहारों की घातक शक्ति को दर्शाती है, जिससे स्पष्ट होता है कि दोनों एक-दूसरे के प्राण लेने पर उतारू थे।
