अलंकारेण वेषेण प्रमाणेन गतेन च ।
त्वम् च सुग्रीव वाली च सदृशौ स्थः परस्परम् ॥ ॥४-१२-३०॥
alaṃkāreṇa veṣeṇa pramāṇena gatena ca । tvam ca sugrīva vālī ca sadṛśau sthaḥ parasparam ॥ ॥4-12-30॥
Translation
"In ornaments, dress, size, and gait, O Sugriva, you and Vali are identical to each other."

"अलंकार (आभूषण), वेशभूषा, कद-काठी (प्रमाण) और गति (चलने का ढंग) में, हे सुग्रीव! तुम और वाली एक-दूसरे के बिल्कुल समान हो।"
English Commentary
Rama explains the technical reason for his inaction: visual identity. The similarity in 'alaṃkāreṇa' (ornaments) and 'veṣeṇa' (dress) suggests both wore royal attire. 'Pramāṇa' (physical standard/size) and 'gata' (movement/gait) were also identical. This details the twin-like nature of the Vanara brothers. Rama clarifies that his hesitation was not an excuse but due to a genuine physical constraint where distinguishing friend from foe was impossible in real-time.

राम अपनी निष्क्रियता का तकनीकी कारण बताते हैं: 'सादृश्य' (Similarity)। 'अलंकार' और 'वेष' की समानता बताती है कि दोनों राजसी वस्त्रों में थे। 'प्रमाण' (शरीर का माप) और 'गति' (युद्ध की चालें) भी समान थीं। यह विवरण वानर बंधुओं की जुड़वां प्रकृति (twins-like nature) को पुष्ट करता है। राम यह स्पष्ट कर रहे हैं कि यह कोई बहाना नहीं, बल्कि एक वास्तविक भौतिक बाधा थी।
