किम् एतत् ज्ञातुम् इच्छामि सखे कौतूहलम् मम ।
कौतूहल अपनयनम् कर्तुम् इच्छामि अहम् त्वया ॥ ॥४-१३-१५॥
kim etat jñātum icchāmi sakhe kautūhalam mama । kautūhala apanayanam kartum icchāmi aham tvayā ॥ ॥4-13-15॥
Translation
O Friend, I wish to know what this is; I have a curiosity. I desire that you remove this curiosity of mine.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सखे! मैं जानना चाहता हूँ कि यह क्या है? मुझे (बड़ा) कौतूहल हो रहा है। मैं चाहता हूँ कि तुम मेरे इस कौतूहल को दूर करो।
English Commentary
Rama addresses Sugriva affectionately as sakhe (friend), treating him as an equal and a knowledgeable local guide. This verse humanizes Rama, showing his sense of wonder (kautuhalam) about the unique landscape. He politely asks Sugriva to resolve his curiosity (kautuhala apanayanam). This interaction reinforces the alliance and friendship formed in the earlier chapters, showing that their relationship goes beyond just political necessity to personal rapport.
